As Mike Tyson‘s controversial fight with Jake Paul draws ever nearer, people in the boxing world continue to share their anxieties about the contest.
Much of the concern centres around the vast difference in both age and experience between these two fighters. 27-year-old Paul has had only 11 contests to date, most of them against inexperienced opponents or former MMA stars.
Tyson of course is a former heavyweight world champion who had a long career up until 2005 that started with him becoming the youngest ever man to lift a world heavyweight title, though ended on a pair of defeats in 2005.
He is almost 60 years old and bar an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, has not fought for the best part of two decades.
Tyson’s health has already put the brakes on this fight once. He had an ulcer flare-up back in the summer and that caused the original July date to be pushed back.
When it does take place in November, the fight will be streamed live on Netflix from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and is set to play out over eight two-minute rounds.
One man who has his reservations is Gervonta Davis‘s trainer Calvin Ford, as he told FightHype.
“I’m worried about Mike’s health right now. That’s the only thing. They had good promotion, good hype about the fight, so right now we just got to wait to see how Mike’s health is. He’s not a spring chicken either, but he is a legend.”
