Gervonta Davis is targeting a showdown with a retired boxing legend.

Since making his professional debut back in 2013, the 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland has captured world titles across three weight divisions whilst picking up impressive victories over the likes of Leo Santa Cruz, Ryan Garcia and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Davis currently holds the WBA lightweight title, which he has defended successfully on multiple occasions. ‘Tank’ returns to the ring against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 in New York City, as he looks to extend his professional record to 31-0.

With a number of exciting clashes surely on the horizon for Davis, the 30-year-old has revealed on the ‘A Safe Place Podcast‘ there is one opponent in particular that he is targeting in what has been described as a ‘dream fight’ for the unbeaten superstar – Floyd Mayweather.

“Me vs. Floyd [Mayweather].”

Mayweather played a key role in the early stages of Davis’ career before they parted ways in 2022 after their situation turned sour. It has been speculated in recent years that ‘Tank’ and the 47-year-old from Grand Rapids, Michigan could face each other, although a bout between the pair is highly unlikely.

‘Money’ has not fought as a professional since he defeated MMA star Conor McGregor in August 2017, although the 47-year-old has had a handful of exhibition contests against the likes of Logan Paul, Aaron Chalmers and Tenshin Nasukawa.

It remains unclear whether Mayweather will make a return to the ring this year, although the boxing legend has expressed an interest in more exhibitions.
