Much has been made about Tyson Fury‘s weight for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk – a must-win fight should he want to be in the conversation for the best heavyweight of a generation.
‘The Gypsy King’ tipped the scales this week at a massive 281 pounds, though he was fully clothed and sporting a leather jacket whilst doing so, leading many to question if he is playing mind games and may be significantly lighter.
Even still, he will be heavier than the 262 he weight for the first bout which Usyk won by split decision. Is it the right choice Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hall of Fame fighter and former world champion Tim Bradley believes it wasn’t a choice at all.
“I’ve been following this Fury vs Usyk [fight week] closely … Tyson Fury looks fat and out of shape. Fat and out of shape, man. Everybody thinking he put on muscle, man y’all see that tire around his waist. He’s looking fat and out of shape. He looking like he looked when he was fighting against Ngannou. Looking like he’s not ready. And he’s looking a different person, don’t y’all think?”
Bradley said that, if the plan is to ‘bully’ Usyk like Fury did Deontay Wilder in their second and third bouts, he is in for a rude awakening.
“You’re not gonna bully a technician like Usyk. You don’t think Usyk understands? Usyk understands him now. You can say Fury understands him as well, but bulking up is a stupid move … This ain’t no Deontay Wilder you’re facing.”
Based on what he has seen, Bradley is backing Usyk by stoppage.
“Usyk gonna move, use them legs. He gonna be picking his spots when Fury is coming forward, over-exttending his punches. Usyk’s gonna be slipping past them and going to that body, peppering him upstairs with shots. He gonna run him into something. I got Usyk by stoppage. He understands the mission.”
If there is anything Fury is good at, it’s proving people wrong. Fans will see whether or not he can pull that off this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
