Hall Of Fame Fighter Hits Back At Comparisons To Floyd Mayweather: “Are You Serious?”

A Hall of Fame great has spoken out after he was compared to former pound-for-pound superstar Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather remained unbeaten for the entirety of his decorated 50-fight professional boxing career, winning multiple world titles across five weight divisions along the way.

The Michigan native produced a number of legacy-defining victories at the height of his career, defeating the likes of Mexican icon Canelo Alvarez and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

After he beat former UFC world champion Conor McGregor in their monumental crossover clash back in August 2017, Mayweather announced his retirement from the professional side of boxing.

It has been reported by multiple sources recently that Mayweather will make a return to the sport in an exhibition against heavyweight great Mike Tyson in 2026, with an official announcement expected to be made very soon.

Speaking to ESNEWS, retired three-weight world champion James Toney hit back at claims that Mayweather was a better fighter than him as he reveals he taught ‘Money’ how to do his signature shoulder roll.

“Are you serious? Let me tell you something. When Floyd first came to Vegas, he asked me how to do the shoulder roll. You know what I’m saying? So how the f**k somebody who I showed how to do the shoulder roll gonna be better than me?

“I’m happy for Floyd and I’m proud of him because he’s done a great job and I want him to do what he’s doing but you know what, look at how I do it, I knock motherf***ers out.”

Toney is widely considered to be one of the best defensive boxers of his time. ‘Lights Out’ rose to prominence during the 1990s and would go on to capture world honours at middleweight, super-middleweight and cruiserweight during his storied career.
