A Hall of Fame great has weighed in on a potential match-up between Jaron Ennis and Vergil Ortiz.

The unbeaten super-welterweight duo are on a collision course for an intriguing showdown, with reports suggesting that they have agreed a deal in principle to clash in the first quarter of 2026.

Ortiz was joined in the ring by ‘Boots’ Ennis just moments after he marked his return to the ring with a destructive second round stoppage victory over Erickson Lubin on Saturday night.

Ennis previously held the unified WBA and IBF world welterweight titles. The 28-year-old from Philadelphia made his super-welterweight debut last month when he stopped Uisma Lima in the first round of their bout at the Wells Fargo Center.

Some of boxing’s biggest names have offered their take on the potential Ennis vs. Ortiz clash, but it seems one Hall of Famer doesn’t want it to happen.

Speaking on his own YouTube channel, retired two-weight world champion Tim Bradley urged Ortiz to ‘stay away’ from a showdown with Ennis, as he claims ‘Boots’ would ‘cook’ the unbeaten Texan.

“I’m letting y’all know right now. Vergil Ortiz, his team, Oscar De La Hoya, all of y’all listen up. If you want that man Vergil Ortiz to lose and get cooked just like this right? Get cooked by ‘Boots’ Ennis. I’m letting y’all know. Y’all better stay away right now. Stay away right now.”

‘Boots’ has been tipped to achieve big things during his professional career, with many considering the 28-year-old to be a future pound-for-pound superstar.

The same could be said for Ortiz however, who will have his sights set on handing Ennis the first defeat of his career when they inevitably lock horns in the new year.
