Devin Haney has been named as an immediate target for a British world champion.
Haney is a three-weight world champion who has often dispatched of his opponents in impressive style over the course of his career.
The American stylist is a former undisputed lightweight champion, who has also held belts in the lightweight and the super lightweight division and currently holds the WBO welterweight belt after his unanimous decision win over Brian Norman Jr back in November.
He is not a knockout merchant; instead, 18 of his 33 wins, especially against better opponents, have come via the judges’ scorecards.
34 fights into his career, he has not yet lost, though he does have one infamous no-contest on his record following what was initially a points loss to Ryan Garcia back in April 2024. That was overturned when Garcia later failed a drug test.
Heading into 2026, he is looking for unification contests as he chases undisputed in a second division and he has one option in Belfast fighter Lewis Crocker.
Speaking to Matchroom Boxing, Crocker declared his interest in that fight for 2026.
“For me, that’s the fight that I want next. So, if there’s any fight that I want next, that’s certainly it. That’s the biggest fight.”
Crocker won the IBF welterweight title back in September when he beat Paddy Donovan on points, after Donovan had been disqualified in their first fight for punching after the bell.
‘The Croc’ has won all 22 contests to date and is generally a counter-puncher who could well cause Haney problems.
