Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford is less than six months away.
Two of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world will go head-to-head when they meet in Las Vegas in September, with Crawford stepping up two weight divisions from super-welterweight to super-middleweight for the highly-anticipated bout.
It sees ‘Bud’ go in search of world honours in a fifth division after already become a four-weight world champion, with his most recent success coming last August when he defeated Israil Madrimov to win the WBA title at 154lbs.
The fight against Canelo could even give Crawford the chance to become a three-weight undisputed champion after his previous triumphs at 140lbs and 147lbs, due to WBC, WBA and WBO champion Alvarez first taking on IBF champion William Scull in May.
Another man that knows about being undisputed is Devin Haney, after he held all four world titles at lightweight before moving up and winning the WBC super-lightweight crown.
Haney has now given his take on how a Canelo vs. Crawford bout will go, telling reporters during a media scrum that he believes ‘Bud’ has what it takes to pull off the upset victory.
“I can’t go against Crawford. I f**k with Crawford. I like him in the ring, out the ring, I think that he’s the best right now. I’m rocking with Crawford.”
Haney returns to action at Times Square in New York on May 2 when he goes up against Jose Ramirez, 24 hours before Canelo then collides with Scull in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where a win sets up the undisputed showdown with Crawford.
