Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez are three of the biggest names in boxing, and they are all set to compete on the same card.
Haney and Garcia have been linked to fights on the same bill for a number of months, but Lopez’s addition helps to bolster the star-studded line-up even more.
It will be held at Times Square in New York on May 2, becoming the first ever boxing event to take place at the popular tourist location.
Haney will take on former unified super-lightweight champion Jose Ramirez, while Garcia will face ex-WBA 140lb champion Rolly Romero, with wins there paving the way for a rematch between Haney and Garcia later this year.
The two men met back in April 2024, with Garcia causing the upset when he dropped Haney multiple times on his way to a points victory, but the result was changed to a no contest after ‘King Ry’ failed a drugs test.
He was subsequently given a one year ban which expires this April, making him eligible to return on this card in New York.
As for Lopez, he will square off against Arnold Barboza Jr, with Barboza fresh off his triumph against Jack Catterall in Manchester earlier this month, winning the WBO Interim title and thus making him mandatory challenger.
Lopez is back in action for the first time since last summer, as he looks to gain some momentum again after two lacklustre victories over Steve Claggett and Jamaine Ortiz in defence of his WBO super-lightweight title.
Victory for Lopez could set up a future fight with current IBF welterweight champion Jaron Ennis, who meets WBA titleholder Eimantas Stanionis in April at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
A fight between Lopez and Ennis would see the Puerto Rican star move up to 147lbs, and the boxing world has already begun to offer their predictions for that potential match-up. Of course, he may also be linked with the winner of the Haney-Garcia rematch.
