Three-weight world champion Devin Haney is already eyeing up his next move, just days after he captured world honours at 147lbs.

The 27-year-old from California put on an impressive display against fellow countryman Brian Norman Jr in Riyadh last weekend to win the WBO world welterweight title.

Haney had found himself under much criticism heading into his clash with Norman but was able to prove his doubters wrong on the night and become a world champion in a third weight class.

As rumours begin to circulate about what could be next for ‘The Dream’, Haney’s father and trainer Bill has named exactly who they are targeting next.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Bill Haney expressed an interest in setting up a welterweight unification between his son and reigning WBA welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.

“We’re looking for a guy by the name of ‘Rolly’ Rolando Romero. Yeah, the guy with the big awkward style, that more importantly beat a guy that we don’t like, that we know is unfocused, we know is uncertain, we know that might be going any and every direction, give us the guy that beat him! That’s the guy we want.”

‘Rolly’ pulled off arguably the best win of his career on May 2 when he defeated Ryan Garcia to capture the WBA Regular welterweight title at the iconic Times Square in New York City.

Romero was then elevated to full WBA world champion in August after former title holder Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis opted to vacate the belt ahead of his move up to 154lbs.

While Haney’s team may be targeting a clash with Romero, the current WBA champion has also been linked to a fight with Manny Pacquiao.
