Devin Haney has made his view clear on the upcoming rematch between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.
These two fighters first came together back in April following many years of animosity and build-up. Their first bout was scheduled for October 2022 but was cancelled when Benn tested positive for a banned substance. The rescheduled clash featured egg slaps, missed weights, and plenty of verbal back and forth before the first bell.
When it came, Benn started fast and aggressive, pushing the action but failing to score the early knockout he had promised. Eubank found his feet and made his natural weight advantages show as he pulled ahead and secured a unanimous win on the cards. It was a tough, physical fight for both men, which meant visited the hospital for assessments, with Eubank staying in for days.
Speaking to Seconds Out, Haney was asked how he thought the much-anticipated rematch would go.
“I think Eubank won the first one, I think he’ll win the second one.”
He then expressed interest in fighting Benn, who has often spoken about sharing the ring with the two-weight world champion.
“Yeah, I want him to come down to 147 and we can talk about it. Right now I’ve only seen him at 160. He can come down to 147 and make the weight, and then yeah I’d love to do it.”
Before that fight can become a reality, Benn will look to avenge the Eubank defeat come September. Despite that being a second outing at 160, he is adamant he will be able to make 147 after.
Haney will challenge for the world title in that division this coming November, facing champion Brian Norman Jr out in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
