Moses Itauma is the new star of the heavyweight divisions and David Haye has assessed how he would get on against Tyson Fury.
Itauma is still only 20-years-old and has had just 13 fights, 11 of them he has won by knockout, and the last nine have all been inside the first two rounds.
His most recent outing was against Dillian Whyte, and once again, Itauma was razor sharp from the off. He made Whyte fall short before catching him with a hook on the temple that scrambled his senses.
Whyte never recovered and was caught again, which sent him to the canvas. Though he beat the count, he was unsteady on his feet so the referee stopped the fight before the end of the second minute.
There is now plenty of talk of what could be next for the world title hopeful.
Speaking to iFL TV, former world heavyweight champion Haye was asked how Itauma would get on against Fury.
“I think he beats everybody off the strength of that victory against Dillian Whyte, sounds crazy, I know. There’s no chinks in his game, I can’t see where anyone could penetrate. There’s nothing he does bad, everything is really clean. I don’t think I’ve seen that before.”
Fury remains retired of course and is most likely to pursue fights with Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua if he does make a ring return.
‘The Gypsy King’ fought Usyk on two occasions on 2024, but suffered back-to-back losses in what have been the only two times he has tasted defeat in his career.
Two-time undisputed ruler Usyk has not yet engaged in negotiations with his mandatory Joseph Parker, so Itauma is now being linked with what would be another huge step up, having previously been talked up by both Fury and the Ukrainian as a future world champion.
