Jake Paul continued his quest to be world champion with a victory over the weekend.

‘The Problem Child’ defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by unanimous decision after 10 rounds at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

It was a dominant performance from Paul, who had plenty of people to call out following his win, ranging from WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, to former unified heavyweight king Anthony Joshua.

One man who knows Paul well is promoter Eddie Hearn, having worked with the Youtuber-turned-boxer on the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fights, along with promoting Paul’s professional debut back in January 2020.

Hearn had praise for Paul for his performance against Chavez Jr whilst talking to IFL TV, and then revealed which world champion he feels ‘The Problem Child’ should target.

“Jake is improving. His IQ, his engine, his shot selection, he has good power. He took a few. I don’t think he’s anywhere near a world class fighter but he’s improving.

“If I’m Jake I’m looking at Badou Jack probably. Ramirez would be a mismatch, but can he beat Badou Jack? The answer for me is still no, but Badou Jack is in his 40s. He didn’t look good last time out at all, but if you’re going to go for a world title, go for Jack.”

Jack is a three-weight world champion from super-middleweight to cruiserweight, claiming the WBC title at 200lbs with a stoppage win over Ilunga Makabu in February 2023.

He made the first defence of his belt nearly two years later with a controversial majority decision win over Noel Mikaelian in May 2025, with it reported that a rematch was ordered by the WBC which could potentially squander Paul’s chance of facing Jack.
