Unbeaten heavyweight great Oleksandr Usyk could well be prepared to rematch Daniel Dubois.

In May of this year, Usyk beat Tyson Fury to become the undisputed heavyweight champion. He had also achieved that feat down in the cruiserweight division back in 2018, which means many now consider him – particularly with this month’s second victory over Fury – one of the best boxers to ever do it in any era.

All this this has happened in just 23 professional fights since Usyk turned over after also becoming an Olympic Gold medalist in London in 2012. As well as twice beating Fury at heavyweight, Usyk has also twice beaten former two time champion Anthony Joshua in back-to-back fights, plus the likes of Derek Chisora and Chaz Witherspoon.

Last summer, he also defended his world titles against British star Dubois. In the fifth, Dubois landed a shot that put Usyk down but it was ruled to be a low blow. Usyk went on to win by stoppage in the 9th round. There are now there are calls for him to rematch the IBF champion in an attempt to win back the belt he vacated and become two-time undisputed in the division.

Speaking to iFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn was asked how he saw the fight going.

“I just think he is too good, Usyk. Listen, Dubois can punch, he is full of confidence at the moment, but I don’t see him beating Usyk.”

Dubois has his hands full with a defence against Joseph Parker on February 22 while Usyk takes some time away from the sport following a historic year.
