An undefeated heavyweight will be part of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford event next month.

Canelo will defend his undisputed super-middleweight crown against Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday 13 September, with the card broadcast live on Netflix.

It sees Crawford moving up two weight divisions for the bout, as he looks to become the first male fighter to be undisputed in three divisions, having already achieved it at super-lightweight and welterweight.

With just weeks to go until the Canelo vs. Crawford showdown, the undercard had begun to take shape, and will feature a heavyweight star that has been touted for big things in the sport.

Ivan Dychko is a Kazakh boxer who claimed bronze medals in the super-heavyweight division at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games, losing to Anthony Joshua and Joe Joyce respectively.

Since turning professional in 2017, the 6ft 9in giant has put together an unbeaten record of 15-0, 14 of those wins coming by knockout. He has struggled to remain active though, competing only four times since 2021.

He’ll hope to change that when he now faces Jermaine Franklin next month, the heavyweight contender that has previously shared the ring with Joshua and Dillian Whyte.

Another man that has recently been linked to a fight with Franklin was rising star Moses Itauma, who extended his undefeated record to 13-0 earlier this month with a first round knockout win over Whyte.

It was revealed after the fight that Itauma’s team were keen on a bout with Franklin in order to try and get their man some rounds, but any hopes of seeing that fight next now appears to be over after the clash between Dychko and Franklin was announced.
