Heavyweight KO Artist Declares He Is The Best In The World: “I’m More Skilled Than Usyk”

Oleksandr Usyk is viewed as the best heavyweight in the world to many but one knockout artist has disagreed with that view.

Usyk became undisputed heavyweight champion in May 2024 with a points win over Tyson Fury, before vacating the IBF belt and then claiming another victory over ‘The Gypsy King’ in December.

Those two wins continued a fantastic campaign for the Ukrainian at heavyweight, having also beaten the likes of Anthony Joshua, Daniel Dubois and Derek Chisora since moving up to the banner division.

It is another Brit who has now declared that he is better skilled than Usyk though, after young rising star Moses Itauma told Talksport that he already feels he is the best on the planet.

“If you want my honest opinion, I think with my skillset, my ring IQ and what I display in the ring, I feel like I am the best in the world. But I haven’t displayed the later rounds, that’s all that I kind of want to get ticked off.

“My next opponents this year we’re looking at fights to get me into the later rounds. With Usyk I feel I’ve got a better skillset than him, but I feel like towards the later rounds he’ll just outdo me because I’ve never been in that sort of fight. This year is just about getting me some rounds.”

Itauma was last in action in December, where he needed just 117 seconds to knock out Demsey McKean and extend his unbeaten record to 11-0 with 9 knockouts.

The 20-year-old will return to action in May when he faces Mike Balogun, meaning he has missed out on the chance to break Mike Tyson’s record of being the youngest world heavyweight champion in history.
