Heavyweight Champ Who Beat Lennox Lewis Wants Mike Tyson Fight After He’s ‘Finished’ With Jake Paul

A former two-time heavyweight champion has called out Mike Tyson for a fight.

Tyson will return to the ring for his first professional bout in over twenty years when he takes on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in November.

The contest was originally scheduled to take place back in July but an ulcer flare-up for the 58-year-old caused him to postpone the bout.

“I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to my ulcer flareup, I have been advised by my doctor to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover.

My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to my full training schedule soon. Jake Paul, this may have bought you some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable performance later this year.”

One man who regrets never facing ‘Iron’ Mike when they were both in their prime is Hasim Rahman.

Rahman is best known for causing one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight history when he knocked out Lennox Lewis in the fifth round back in 2001. Lewis would get his revenge in an immediate rematch to regain his WBC, IBF, and IBO titles.

Speaking to FightHype, Rahman has little doubt that Tyson will finish Jake Paul and if so he finally wants his shot at the fight he feels always got away.

“No doubt, there is only one name that comes to mind and that’s Mike Tyson. That’s just one of the only fights that I didn’t get to fight in my era. I was supposed to fight Mike Tyson but it didn’t work out that way but I’m still hoping for the fight, yeah, I’m still hoping for the fight, Mike!

So when you finish with Jake, when he’s finished with ‘Fake Paul’ then I’m available. I think it would still be a great fight, I’m in terrific shape, so let’s see how Mike do with Jake and I’m available.”

Paul vs Tyson takes place on November 15 at the AT&T stadium in Texas and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
