Former Heavyweight Champion Returns With Clear Message: “I’m Coming Back For All The Belts”

A former world heavyweight champion has made his intentions perfectly clear ahead of his imminent return to the sport.

The heavyweight scene has altered massively in recent years, with Oleksandr Usyk the current king of the division following his two victories over Tyson Fury in 2024.

An undisputed battle takes place in July, when WBC, WBA and WBO champion Usyk meets IBF champion Daniel Dubois, while the likes of Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel appear to also on the cusp of future world title shots.

In years gone by, fighters such as Fury and Anthony Joshua previously ruled the division, along with a hard-hitting American who is set to be back in action very soon.

Deontay Wilder was the WBC heavyweight champion for a number of years, making 10 defences of the belt before losing it to Fury in 2020.

That began a difficult run of form for Wilder, with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ losing four of his last five fights, including a knockout defeat to Zhilei Zhang last June.

After over a year out, Wilder is set to return on June 27 when he faces Tyrrell Herndon, and he told TMZ Sports that he wants his world title back.

“I’m coming back for all the belts, you know the heavyweight division I brought it back years ago in 2015 and I’m gonna bring it back again.”

Wilder then insisted he isn’t overlooking Herndon, despite being a heavy favourite in the fight.

“I’m taking him seriously, we’ve got a lot of fights lined up for this year, two for sure but three maybe. It’s going to be a great fight whilst it lasts but this warm up, tune up, I’m taking it serious and once completing the task then we move on into the limelight of the bigger and better fights. This is the tester.”

Wilder has also named another heavyweight that is in his sights who he has vowed to end if they meet soon.
