Deontay Wilder is prepping for a return to the ring this June.

The former WBC Heavyweight Champion has faced calls to retire recently due to the nature of his last two outings – a points loss to Joseph Parker and fifth round knockout defeat at the hands of Zhilei Zhang.

Other than the defeats on his record, making it four in the last five fights, many in the sport feel that Wilder has not looked like his past dangerous self inside the ropes.

One man who agrees completely is American rival Jarrell Miller, who has made no secret about his distaste for his countryman. Speaking to Fight Hub TV after the Zhang loss, ‘Big Baby’ told ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to reitre.

“You know how I feel about that pr**k. He’s always got excuses. Stay [your] ass home, boy. His chin is gone. He’s just always got excuses. It is what it is, man, you watch my social media you know how I feel about him.

“Nothing to say about him, he got his ass whooped. Most definitely [I want to fight him]. Some part of me definitely wants to punch him in the face.”

Speaking more recently to Box Nation, Miller – who has faced bans in the past for failing doping tests – said a fight between him and Wilder would be a ‘blockbuster’.

“I heard about [Wilder’s comeback] a few months ago. If we get past our fights maybe me and him could do a banger. A blockbuster … I mean, I’m about the paycheque, I still want to smash him, cause people want to see that fight.”

Miller brands himself a ‘heavyweight monster’ and is looking to prove that when he faces former British Champion Fabio Wardley at Portman Road Stadium on June 7. The American steps through the ropes against the undefeated Brit off the back of a controversial draw with Andy Ruiz Jr, a fight many felt he won. The one loss on his record came at the hands of current IBF World Champion Daniel Dubois.

Wilder faces Tyrrell Herndon on June 27 in Wichita, Kansas.
