Oleksandr Usyk is the current number one heavyweight on the planet, but a sparring partner believes there is a new contender ready to take this title.
Having had ring sessions with both, popular British heavyweight Dave Allen believes Martin Bakole is the man to dethrone the Ukrainian.
Bakole is coming off the best win of his career, stopping the much hyped American Jared Anderson in the fifth round having dominated from the opening bell and putting him down three times.
The Congolese man-mountain has previously claimed that he stopped Usyk in sparring with a body shot and his trainer, Billy Nelson, backed up that claim in an interview with iFL TV.
“He’s sparred Fury, Joshua and Usyk and held his own each and every time.
He stopped Usyk in sparring, so why would he not think he could beat him. It’s fact, it’s fact. I mean have you ever heard Usyk saying it never happened?”
Speaking to Boxing Social, Allen believes Bakole now beats everyone in boxing’s top division, including recently undisputed Usyk.
“I think Martin Bakole is the best heavyweight in the world. I think he probably beats everybody. I’ve said this for a while. He’s so big, but he’s so fast. When he puts his shots together so well, there’s an aura about him as well. Jared Anderson is huge, 6ft4, 18 stone. Bakole made him look like a baby, look like a child.
Bakole would beat Usyk. I’ve no doubt in my mind, way too big. He’s all wrong for Usyk. The only people I can see giving him trouble is Zhang ’cause he’s as big as him, Fury and Joshua.”
Fans could be in for treat with Bakole’s next outing as Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh announced the was trying to make a ‘blood fight’ against fellow heavy hitter Zhilei Zhang.
As for Usyk, he rematches Tyson Fury on December 21.
