“I’ll 100% Replace Him”: Former Heavyweight Champ Ready To Step In For Mike Tyson Against Jake Paul

Mike Tyson‘s fight against Jake Paul is just over one month away.

With the showdown getting closer and closer, many figures within boxing are still unhappy about the bout going ahead.

There is an age gap of over 30 years between the two fighters, and Tyson hasn’t competed professionally since way back in 2005.

Despite that, it is still set to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday 15 November, and will be broadcast live on Netflix.

It was originally set to be in July, before Tyson was forced to postpone the contest due to an ulcer flare up after a medical incident on a flight, furthering the belief for some that ‘Iron Mike’ shouldn’t be getting in the ring.

One man has now offered to step in and replace Tyson if he is unable to make it to fight night, and that is former world heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs.

Briggs himself hasn’t fought professionally for nearly 10 years, with his last bout coming in 2016, but he has told Bloody Elbow he plans to return soon and would take on Paul.

“100% I’m coming back and fighting. I’ll fight Mike Tyson, Jake Paul anybody.

It’s a great fight. It’s great for Mike because at his age he can still make money, it’s amazing, let’s go champ!

If it happens, then great, but if it don’t I’m here, let’s go champ. 100% [I’ll step in to face Paul if Mike Tyson doesn’t make it], sign me up and I’d do it for free, they wouldn’t even have to pay me.”

Canelo Alvarez is another who has recently had his say on the Tyson vs. Paul fight, claiming the bout is only risky for one of them.
