Deontay Wilder‘s career is on the ropes after back-to-back losses against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang.

Whilst the former WBC Champion looked tentative against Parker, the points loss wasn’t devastating. Getting stopped by China’s Zhang, however, could be.

Wilder said pre-fight that defeat could spell the end of his career but he hasn’t made, or at least announced, a decision on the matter since.

Despite that huge call hanging over him, he has been presented with an opportunity to become a two-weight world champion in the WBC’s Bridgerweight division. Sitting between cruiser and heavy, Wilder would comfortably make the 224lbs weight limit and he had been welcomed by both champion Lawrence Okolie and WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman to take the fight.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, heavyweight rival Jarrell Miller said Wilder needs to ‘stay at home’ rather than fight again.

“He should sit his ass on the couch and pray. That’s what he needs to do, man. Stay his ass home, boy. His chin is gone. He’s just always got excuses. It is what it is, man, you watch my social media you know how I feel about that prick, so nothing to say he really about him – he got his ass whooped, that’s it. That’s boxing.”

The two American heavyweights have never seen eye to eye after Wilder once claimed to have beaten Miller so badly in sparring that he was sent straight to the hospital.

Whilst Wilder contemplates his future in the sport, ‘Big Baby’ Miller returns to the ring this weekend against Andy Ruiz Jr. The fight – which comes off the back of a loss for him and a period of inactivity for Ruiz – is pivotal for the careers of both men.
