Heavyweight Says He ‘Knows For A Fact He’ll Beat Usyk’: “He Has A Problem Fighting Guys Like Me”

For many, Oleksandr Usyk is as close to unbeatable as any fighter in the world.

The Ukrainian heavyweight is now a two time undisputed champion in the banner division. He has defeated all comers, including Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois, all of whom he has soundly beaten twice, without even legitimately being put down on the canvas.

Before moving up to heavyweight, he also cleared out the cruiserweight divisions with wins over the likes of Mairis Briedis, Marco Huck, Murat Gassiev and Tony Bellew to become undisputed ruler, six years after also picking up a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics.

Currently, he is 38-years-old and may have just one or two fights left.

One man who is claiming he would have a good shot of winning is American heavyweight Jarrell Miller. He has fought just three in the last two years – one draw with Andy Ruiz Jr, a KO loss to Daniel Dubois in December 2023 and a technical kncokout of Lucas Browne in March 2023.

Speaking to The Ring Magazine recently, that didn’t stop him from talking up his chances with Usyk.

“I know for a fact I can beat Usyk. With me training and me having a proper training camp, I know I can beat Usyk. I would run him over. Usyk has a problem with guys who put their chin down and want to bang out.”

Miller took a similar approach in his fight with Dubois, and ended up getting stopped with just seconds to go of the final round, so he is unlikely to be able to outwork Usyk, who is famous for his ring IQ, footwork and tight defences.

As for Usyk’s final fights, Jake Paul in an MMA bout is one option, or WBO mandatory Joseph Parker is another, whilst interim WBC champion Agit Kabayel has also thrown his name into the ring.
