Jake Paul will now take on legendary former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on November 15 after their initial fight date was postponed due to a medical issue on ‘Iron’ Mike’s part.
57-year-old Tyson will go down in history as one of the hardest and most fearsome heavyweight fighters of all times but, due to his age, will enter the ring against Paul as a sizeable underdog.
One man who thinks the bookies have it wrong is former three-time heavyweight champion and ex-Tyson foe, Lennox Lewis.
Speaking to FOX 29 Philadelphia about the contest, Lewis is in no doubt his former opponent will get the win.
“Mike Tyson’s gonna win. Mike Tyson’s not that old. Don’t take him too softly. We’re one year apart … You can fight somebody like that and do well, because the person you’re fighting is not a true fighter and there’s a hundred things that you’ve forgotten that he’s learning.
[The age] will be a little bit of a determining factor if the fight goes on too long, but if they get close and Mike Tyson comes with his ten second combination, if one of those punches catches [Paul] he’s definitely gonna go down.”
Asked if he would like to face the winner, Lewis, who has been out of the ring since his victory against Vitali Klitschko in 2003, hinted that he would like a shot a Paul.
“That’s a good question. I hope that Tyson saves a little bit of Jake Paul for me.”
Lewis retired as one of very few men to hang up the gloves having beat every man he ever faced, two in rematches, and boxing legend George Foreman has no doubt he’s the best heavyweight of all time.
