Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are just a few hours away from finally stepping into the ring to face each other.
The Mexican icon puts his undisputed super-middleweight titles on the line against undefeated superstar Crawford at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas tonight, with the event broadcast live on Netflix.
Canelo heads into the fight having become undisputed at 168lbs for the second time back in May, defeating William Scull by unanimous decision to add the IBF title to his WBC, WBA and WBO collection.
Crawford is looking to make further his legacy by becoming the first male fighter ever to claim undisputed honours in three separate weight classes, having already become the sole ruler of both the super-lightweight and welterweight divisions.
‘Bud’ is just one of a handful of fighters that have been undisputed in two divisions throughout the sport’s entire history, and one man who achieved it during the 1990s was Evander Holyfield, who after becoming undisputed at cruiserweight also managed it at heavyweight.
Holyfield has now shared his final verdict on the Canelo vs. Crawford fight, admitting to FightHype that he is now struggling to pick a winner after previously stating that the American would have ‘a hard time’ attempting to beat the Mexican.
“I really don’t know. Both of the fighters are good. They [Canelo and Crawford] going to choose the winner, whoever make it, I wish them well. Both of the fighters are very good.”
While Holyfield may find it tough to predict the outcome between Canelo and Crawford, two-weight world champion Tim Bradley is confident that he knows who will win the fight by knockout.
