Evander Holyfield was worried watching Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul.
Tyson and Paul had their much-publicised showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Friday, in the first ever boxing event broadcast live on Netflix.
It saw ‘Iron Mike’ competing in his first professional boxing contest since 2005, entering the ring at the age of 58 to take on a man over 30 years younger than him in 27-year-old Paul.
Despite the age gap, some fans had high hopes for Tyson after seeing his training footage in the build-up, where he showed glimpses of the ferociousness that once made him ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet.’
Those fans were proven wrong though, as the boxing legend was comfortably beaten by Youtuber-turned-boxer Paul in their eight-round bout.
Tyson wore a knee support in the fight, and was biting down on his gloves throughout the contest. Fellow icon Evander Holyfield was in attendance, and explained on his YouTube channel why his former rival does that.
“Once he started biting on his gloves, he does it when he gets nervous. He can’t figure it out.”
He then revealed the moment where he knew that ‘Iron Mike’ was in trouble against Paul.
“Every time that Mike used to do to fight he’d get real low, he’d spring off them legs. He seemed like he couldn’t bend down low enough, right then when I saw that I was like ‘oh my goodness’.”
