After his first win over Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk joined a very small club that only includes him and Evander Holyfield.
These two legends are the only men in history to have claimed all of the major world honours in both the cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions.
Usyk became undisputed cruiserweight champion back in 2018 after beating the likes of Mairis Briedis and defending his belts against Brit Tony Bellew.
He then moved up to the banner division and after settling in with victories over Chazz Witherspoon and Derek Chisora, he twice beat Anthony Joshua to claim and defend three of the four titles.
Back in May, he beat Fury over 12 rounds to add the WBC to his collection and become the first undisputed heavyweight since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
In an engaging contest this past Saturday night, Usyk rematched ‘The Gypsy King’ and in what some saw as a closer fight than last time around, he managed to improve on his first win by taking a majority decision with all three scorecards reading 116-112 in his favour.
Speaking after the event in Saudi Arabia on his own YouTube channel, Holyfield was full of congratulations for the Ukrainian.
“Usyk, you done it again. From cruiserweight to heavyweight to beat the heavyweight guy a second time, great job, man.”
Usyk has teased before that he could go back down to cruiserweight for a shot at belt holders like Jai Opetaia, but he has also been linked to a second undisputed fight at heavyweight, this time with IBF champion Daniel Dubois should he beat Joseph Parker in February.
