Holyfield Lost To Riddick Bowe And Lennox Lewis And Reveals Who Would Have Won Had They Fought

Evander Holyfield has given his verdict for how a fight between heavyweight rivals Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis may have gone.

Holyfield made a big impact in the heavyweight division himself, having moved up to the banner weight class after being undisputed at cruiserweight.

He managed to repeat the feat at heavyweight, becoming undisputed and claiming notable wins over the likes of Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes and George Foreman, whilst also sharing the ring with both Bowe and Lewis.

Holyfield fought Bowe three times, with the pair each winning on points before ‘Big Daddy’ ended the trilogy in style with an eighth round TKO win.

That was arguably the best performance of Bowe’s career, who also picked up victories over former world champions Tony Tubbs and Herbie Hide throughout his tenure.

Holyfield also met Lewis on two occasions, with the first bout ending in a controversial split decision draw before Lewis then won the rematch by unanimous decision.

That win went alongside the victories Lewis picked up over Tyson and Vitali Klitschko later in his career after teaming with legendary trainer Emanuel Steward.

One fight that never happened was Bowe against Lewis, after ‘Big Daddy’ chose to vacate the WBC belt he held at the time rather than fight his rival.

Having taken on both men in his career, Holyfield once revealed to Boxing Social how he thinks a battle between his two former heavyweight rivals would have played out.

“If they fought before got Emmanuel Steward, I think Riddick Bowe would’ve got him.”

Lewis himself once made it clear whether or not he felt ‘Big Daddy’ did duck him during their respective careers.
