Evander Holyfield Says Mayweather Doesn’t Deserve Undefeated Record: “He Lost That Fight”

Evander Holyfield doesn’t believe Floyd Mayweather should have his perfect unbeaten record.

Mayweather retired in 2017 having compiled a 50-0 record, after becoming a five-weight world champion from super-featherweight to super-welterweight, defeating fighters such as Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya and Juan Manuel Marquez.

Holyfield’s achievements are just as impressive, reigning as undisputed at cruiserweight before moving up to the banner division and repeating the feat at heavyweight, and to this day he remains the only four-time heavyweight champion in history.

‘The Real Deal’ also overcame a number of boxing icons in his career, beating the likes of Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Larry Holmes and Riddick Bowe.

While they’re both regarded as two of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves, Holyfield wasn’t impressed with one performance of Mayweather’s in particular.

Arguably the biggest fight of Mayweather’s career came in May 2015 when he took on Pacquiao, in a fight that generated a 72 million dollar gate and a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys.

It was Mayweather that came out on top in the fight, defeating Pacquiao by unanimous decision, but Holyfield disagreed with that outcome when asked if he felt that ‘Pac-Man’ should have won.

“I totally thought he did.

I actually thought Pacquiao did well.”

While not many people may agree with Holyfield, it isn’t the only big claim that ‘The Real Deal’ has made, after recently stating that he believes it should be him who is regarded as the greatest ever, rather than Muhammad Ali.
