Moses Itauma has been discussing whether or not he will ever share the ring with Oleksandr Usyk,
Itauma is highly rated by many in the boxing world, including Usyk himself, who has previously called him a future world champion but has also said he won’t fight him any time soon.
Right now, he is still just 21-years-old and has had only 13 fights, though he has won all of them, 11 by knockout and nine inside the first two rounds.
Last time out in August, he stepped in with former world title challenger Dillian Whyte and stopped him within the first two minutes of the contest.
Speaking to iFL TV, Itauma was asked what he thought when Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh suggested he should fight Usyk.
“If the fight happens it happens, if it don’t, it don’t, do you know what I mean. He’s got the ability to make it happen but I don’t see any reasons why Usyk would take it so I haven’t been thinking about it.
“Like it’s alright to hear and what not. Will it actually fulfil itself? That’s another question. Usyk is getting old so I’d say he’s got to get a move on but he’s been knocking a lot of guys out so we’ve got to leave that man alone.”
It seems as though Itauma is in no rush to take on Usyk any time soon. Instead, he continues to build with different types of tests in the ring. Next up later this month is Jermaine Franklin, a tough American who has taken both Anthony Joshua and Whyte the distance before now.
