Jake Paul has a target on his back following a controversial fight with Mike Tyson last year.

Though Paul beat the 58-year-old on points in an underwhelming affair, many had feared for ‘Iron’ Mike’s health prior and there were questions as to how the fight was sanctioned, even despite softer rules than traditional pro bouts.

Regardless, the event was a smash hit and broke various records. It also marked the first live boxing card on Netflix, something that Paul’s promotional company MVP are not set to build on with the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano trilogy.

As for Paul’s boxing campaign, he is not short of options. He has been called out by current and former world champions alike, all with the statement that they want revenge for Tyson but clearly also interested in the mega payday.

One such man is Shannon Briggs, who scored 37 first round knockouts in his heavyweight career and was world champion from 2006 to 2007. Speaking on social media, ‘The Cannon’ sent a clear threat Paul’s way.

“You wanna run it, or just run? Mike [Tyson] wanted the money I just want [blood]. Let’s go champ!”

It’s not the first time Briggs has thrown his hat in the ring to face the YouTuber-turned-fighter, previously stating that his involvement in the early training camps of both Jake and his brother Logan means he played a part in spawning this crossover scene.

“I feel responsible. That’s why Mike was mad at me when we did the slap boxing thing, he was like ‘you trained Jake and Logan Paul.’ And I didn’t understand at first, but YouTube boxing… I feel responsible. I started it, not I gotta end it. I gotta hurt one of them. All of them.”

Paul is gearing up to announce his next opponent after talks out of left-field with elite Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fell through. Briggs, despite his enthusiasm, is unlikely to be high up the list.
