The controversial Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul event is under one month away.
27-year-old Paul will enter the ring a favourite against former undisputed heavyweight champion Tyson, 58, on November 15 in Texas. Despite a huge gulf in skillset, many in the sport fear for Tyson due to his advancing years and two decades away from the professional game.
Paul has built a record of 10-1 with most wins coming against former MMA fighters. His sole loss to Tommy Fury – the most traditional test of his campaign so far – saw him split with trainer BJ Flores before getting back to winning ways.
In an interview with Fred Talks Fighting, Flores has revealed that he is still in communication with Paul and has been getting updates on his training camp.
“I just talked to Jake today, we were talking about some different sparring partners he’s got in camp – can’t say any names – and what he’s working on. I’m gonna be getting some tickets to that fight … He’s excited about Mike, he’s ready to go, he realises how big of an event it is and he’s excited to do the best he can.”
As for a prediction, the former world title challenger believes his man can get the victory against a 58-year-old Tyson provided he manages to fight his own fight.
“Have you ever heard the term don’t poke the bear? Don’t make him too angry. If Jake stays outside and boxes, taunts and feints and uses his legs a little bit to get Mike tired, I think he’s gonna beat him for sure. If he gets on the inside with that low centre of gravity that Tyson has and his explosive shots, I don’t care how old he is he can still knock you out. He’s not gonna have the gas tank he wants to have, no question about it, but he’s gonna be dangerous early. Jake’s gotta respect that, stay long and don’t poke the bear.”
