Jake Paul will face Mike Tyson in just under four weeks.
Paul, despite not being on the same level as a fighter, has fought 11 times in the last four years. His journey started out facing another content creator in Anesongib, promoted by Eddie Hearn. Paul scored a stoppage in the first round.
Since then, his bread and butter has been fighting former UFC fighters, including Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva. Paul’s one loss came at the hands of Tommy Fury – his most traditional boxing test.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Anesongib said that he would be tuning in but saw it more as entertainment rather than competitive sport.
“Who do I think will win? I don’t know, man. It’s like an entertainment fight. I’m not really looking at it as like competition. I’m not looking at it as competition. I’m gonna sit and look at it like ‘who won?’ but I’m not watching it as like it’s competitive.”
There are others in the sport who feel the same, still not convinced that, despite the involvement of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the fight will be ‘real.’ Former world champion Shawn Porter was even recently convinced that the main event will not go ahead.
The official rules are eight two-minute rounds with 14 ounce gloves, but the result will be listed on each man’s professional record. It goes down at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and live on Netflix.
