Jake Paul could soon get the chance to fight for a world title.
Rightly or wrongly, Paul has become one of the biggest names in boxing since he made his professional debut back in January 2020.
He began his career by mainly taking on former MMA fighters, before then taking on boxing legend Mike Tyson in a controversial bout last November, with Paul defeating the 58-year-old by unanimous decision after eight rounds.
‘The Problem Child’ then began talks with the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis for his next fight, but neither of them were able to materialise and he will instead take on former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez in California on June 28.
Provided he is victorious in that bout, the Youtuber-turned-boxer could be on the verge of securing a world title fight next, after he confirmed that he is in talks to face a reigning world champion.
Badou Jack is the current WBC cruiserweight champion, having previously also held world honours at super-middleweight and light heavyweight.
He made the latest defence of his belt earlier this month when he defeated Noel Mikaelian by majority decision, and Paul revealed to Fight Hub TV that negotiations have begun.
“I’m super interested. I had Nakisa [Bidarian] contact his team behind the scenes, so those discussions are happening.”
Paul was then asked if he would be confident he could defeat Jack.
“For sure.”
While a fight between Paul and Jack appears to be an option, it has been claimed that ‘The Problem Child’ has already agreed a deal to take on Gervonta Davis later this year.
