Fighter Who Jake Paul Replaced In World Rankings Speaks Out On WBA’s ‘Disgusting’ Decision

Jake Paul has taken one step closer to achieving his goal of becoming a world champion.

The 28-year-old from Cleveland, Ohio made his return to the ring last Saturday night when he defeated former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Paul took control of the bout from the opening bell, facing little-to-no threat from the 39-year-old Mexican who has been severely criticised for his performance.

In the aftermath, Paul was controversially entered into the WBA cruiserweight world rankings, going in at number 14.

Hard-hitting cruiserweight contender Craig Parker, previously 14 but now bumped to 15, revealed he is ‘disgusted’ with this decision in an interview with TMZ Sports.

“I got up yesterday morning and the first thing that came to my news feed was Jake Paul ranked number 14 by the WBA where I was ranked at number 14 by the WBA, moved me down to number 15 and it was just something like all the hard work I put in over the years.

“It’s a struggle to be ranked in the WBA or any belt and stuff like that, so for him just to take a position that guys like me that struggle to find a ways to the gym, it’s a long road to be where we at you know, and for him just to be number 14 it was a slap in the face. What can I say? It was disgusting news to me.”

Many analysts, fans and fighters agree given Paul’s modest record that is filled with mostly retired MMA fighters.

Paul has expressed an interest in facing reigning WBA and WBO world cruiserweight champion Gilberto Ramirez, as well as WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack.
