Jake Paul‘s fight against Gervonta Davis could be in jeopardy.
The two men were scheduled to meet in a ten-round exhibition bout at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on Friday 14 November, in the latest high-profile boxing event broadcast live on streaming service Netflix.
The bout has been extremely controversial since it was first announced, with many boxing fans angry that WBA lightweight champion ‘Tank’ was taking on YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul rather than face the true fighters in his division.
Davis last competed in March when he fought to a majority decision draw against Lamont Roach, with it initially believed that an immediate rematch between the two men would come next.
That wasn’t to be though, as Davis instead opted for the clash with Paul, who rightly or wrongly has become one of the biggest names in the sport, defeating boxing legend Mike Tyson in November 2024 before claiming a victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in June.
It appears that the ‘Tank’ vs. Paul fight could be in trouble though, after it was reported by Chris Mannix that discussions are underway about potentially finding a replacement opponent for Davis.
“Netflix and reps for Jake Paul have been exploring potential replacements for Gervonta Davis, sources familiar with the situation told @SInow. Paul-Davis, scheduled for November 14th, is in limbo after new allegations of domestic violence against Davis.”
‘Tank’ is facing a new civil suit over domestic allegations, two months after a previous domestic violence case was dropped by a different ex-girlfriend.
No official announcement has yet been made regarding a potential change of opponent, but with the fight just two weeks ago, any possible switch would have to be made soon.
