Jake Paul‘s dream of challenging for a world title could become a reality sooner rather than later.

‘The Problem Child’ took the latest step in his professional boxing career when he defeated former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California at the end of June.

That victory earned Paul a top 15 ranking with the WBA, though the controversy that surrounded that decision could see the governing body make a U-turn on their choice.

It’s a world champion with another governing body that Paul is seemingly targeting though, as revealed by Paul’s manager Nakisa Bidarian.

Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Bidarian was first asked if Paul is expected to return to action before the end of the year.

“Absolutely. November, December.”

Bidarian then announced who ‘The Problem Child’ has his sights set on, but explained why it may not be able to happen in 2025.

“The only possibility right now is that Jake wants to fight for a belt as soon as possible. I think it’s tough this year because Badou Jack who he wants to fight more so than anyone has a mandatory rematch with the guy he just beat per the WBC, so I don’t know if this year is possible. We’ll see.”

Jack is a three-weight world champion having held gold at super-middleweight, light heavyweight and now cruiserweight, and was last in action in May when defending his WBC title against Noel Mikaelian by majority decision.

It was a controversial decision that many felt should have gone the other way, leading to the aforementioned immediate rematch being ordered by the WBC.

It means Paul may have to target another fighter if he is indeed to compete again this year, with the likes of former foe Tommy Fury or WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis linked as possible opponents.
