James DeGale became the first British fighter to win a world title and Olympic gold medal back in 2015.

The 39-year-old from London achieved his lifelong dream of capturing a world title when he defeated Andre Dirrell to capture the IBF super middleweight title in May 2015.

DeGale made two successful defences of his crown against Rogelia Medina and Lucian Bute before he was beaten by Caleb Truax in a sensational upset in 2017, although he was able to avenge this defeat in their rematch 4-months later to regain his title.

‘Chunky’ fought twice more before drawing the curtain on his career, with his his 29th and final outing coming against Chris Eubank Jr. The domestic showdown as regarded as a ‘grudge match’ in the build-up, although Eubank dominated the contest as he floored DeGale twice en route to claiming a unanimous decision victory.

As Eubank prepares to face fierce rival Conor Benn on April 26, Chunky spoke on the The George Groves Boxing Club as he claimed the 35-year-old was ‘not very good’, and only lost to him back in 2019 due to being at the end of his career.

“My three losses: Truax, once again on the decline but I revenged that. Even Eubank, Eubank’s s**t let’s be real with it, you [George Groves] dealt with him on a different one, but he’s not very good.”

Eubank’s upcoming clash with Benn takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, with many dubbing it as one of the biggest fights that British boxing has ever seen. It comes over 30-years after the fathers of both men, Chris Sr and Nigel Benn, fought on two occasions in one of boxing’s greatest rivalries.
