Hall of Fame inductee James Toney has shared his thoughts on a potential rematch between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.
Filipino icon Pacquiao has made it clear that he is interested in facing former rival Mayweather for the second time, over a decade on from their first encounter.
‘Money’ Mayweather was victorious in their monumental first showdown back in May of 2015, defeating Pacquiao via unanimous decision to unify the WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles in Las Vegas.
Whilst Mayweather has not competed as a professional in just over eight years, Pacquiao made a sensational comeback to the sport in July when he fought to a draw against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.
Speaking to ESNEWS recently, James Toney admitted that he would favour Pacquiao in a potential rematch against Mayweather as he claims the eight-division world champion still ‘has the movement’.
“I’m going to say Manny Pacquiao wins. He still has the movement, and I haven’t seen Floyd in like 10 years.”
Following his draw with Barrios last July, Pacquiao confirmed that he would be open to making a return to action in 2026.
As for Floyd, the former pound-for-pound superstar is reportedly preparing for a shock exhibition clash with former heavyweight star Mike Tyson this year, with an official announcement expected to be made very soon. He has not ruled out the Pacquiao rematch, nor putting his famous 50-0 professional record on the line.
