Jaron Ennis Announces World Title Eliminator Against ‘Road Warrior’ With 70% KO Ratio

Jaron Ennis will make his super-welterweight debut on October 11 in his home city of Philadelphia.

The undefeated former unified welterweight world champion relinquished his two belts to move up in weight. That decision came after a stellar performance against Eimantas Stanionis, though ‘Boots’ Ennis said post-fight that due to cutting weight it was still nowhere near his best.

With a new multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing now signed, and the promise of a clash with undefeated knockout artist Vergil Ortiz Jr early next year, Ennis will take a bedding in fight at 154 this year. The opponent will be Uisma Lima, the 14-1 Angolan with ten knockouts to his name. Lima is on a run of four wins following his sole career defeat to Aaron McKenna back in June of 2023.

Ennis looks to score the 35th win of his career and will be heavy favourite to do so. With victory comes a shot at the WBA Super-Welterweight World Title, currently held by currently held by Terence Crawford but only until the first bell of his super-middleweight fighter with Canelo Alvarez in September. The interim champion is Yoenis Tellez.

Despite fighting for a favourable position with the WBA, Ennis will still likely opt for the Ortiz bout in an attempt to take his WBC Interim Championship belt. Though ‘Boots’ has signed his part of the deal, Ortiz recently revealed that he has not done the same. He is also expected out around October time.
