Jaron Ennis Sums Up Terence Crawford’s Chances Against Canelo Alvarez In Just 3 Words

Jaron Ennis has finally given his verdict on the Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez showdown.

Crawford and Canelo look set to do battle in September after months of rumours regarding the fight, with ‘Bud’ moving up two weight divisions for the clash against unified champion Alvarez.

Crawford’s last bout saw him win the WBA super-welterweight title in his 154lb debut, having moved up from welterweight where he became undisputed champion.

One of the belts that was taken from ‘Bud’ was the IBF strap, resulting in Ennis becoming world champion after he was elevated from interim status.

‘Boots’ has been looking to secure a fight against Crawford over the last few years, but with the Omaha fighter now moving up to 168lbs, it seems the chance may now be gone for good.

While Ennis has seemingly missed out on a bout against Crawford, he has still offered his thoughts to YSM Sports Media on his rival’s fight against Canelo, saying that ‘Bud’s fight with the Mexican superstar is a ’50/50 fight.’

‘Boots’ then explained, as many others have, why the jump up in weight may be a problem.

“It’s going to be difficult … You have to put on an extra 14 pounds so you might be a little slower. Who knows he could be faster, but you have to add more weight and gain more muscle because of moving up in weight, so it’s a little harder. We’ll see on fight night how he looks.

“He needs to be smart and take his time. Box and move and don’t sit there. Canelo is going to press him. Everything behind the stick and try to catch him pulling out or pulling back. He’ll be cutting the ring off and might have to bully the smaller guy.

“He won’t let him dictate nothing and he’ll want to show him that it’s his weight class. It’s a good fight. A 50-50 fight, and I guess it’s a fight that everybody wants to see.”

While Ennis may have missed out on a clash against Canelo, another big fight may have appeared after it was reported that he could take on Teofimo Lopez later this year, and the boxing world has already began to predict how that contest could go.
