Eddie Hearn, the promoter of WBA/IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has revealed on social media that his fighter’s June 1 title defence against American Jarrell Miller in New York is in jeopardy after Miller failed a drugs test.

Hearn tweeted: “Big Baby” Miller has failed a random drug test. We have been informed by VADA that there has been an adverse finding in Jarrell Miller’s sample collected on March 20th, 2019. We are working with all relevant parties and will update with more details soon. AJ’s preparation continues for June 1st at MSG”

Miller reportedly tested positive for the banned substance GW1516. If Miller is suspended a new opponent for Joshua would have to be found quickly as the June 1 date is rapidly approaching.

Miller’s promoter Dmitry Salita said on Twitter: “We are in the process of obtaining further information about VADA’s finding and will have more to say soon on this developing situation. In the meantime, Jarrell continues to train for his June 1 fight against Anthony Joshua.”
