Jarrell Miller has spoken for the first time after pulling out of his planned showdown with Fabio Wardley.

The two heavyweights were set to meet at Portman Road in Ipswich on Saturday 7 June, before Miller withdrew from the contest late last month due to a shoulder injury.

The fight would have likely been the toughest test of Wardley’s career so far, taking on Miller who in his last two contests suffered a final round stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois in December 2023, along with a majority decision draw against Andy Ruiz last August.

Wardley has become a key figure in the British heavyweight scene over the past 12 months, first being part of a 12 round war with Frazer Clarke in March 2024 which ended in a draw, before then winning by dramatic first round knockout in their rematch in October.

After Miller pulled out of their fight, Wardley will meet undefeated Australian boxer Justis Huni, who has stepped in to replace the American on a few weeks notice ahead of the bout.

Miller has now posted on social media to discuss the fight not happening, attempting to dispel some of the rumours that were surrounding his withdrawal.

“There’s a lot he say she say sh*t Going on right now so let’s clear It up.

1. Dimitry Salita is no longer my promoter . I HAVE NO PROMOTER.

2. I been dealing with slight set back and will be good in another week.

3. The ONLY PERSON THAT CAN SPEAK ON MY BEHALF is my MANAGER Spencer Brown. Absolutely (NO ONE ELSE)

Other updates COMING SOON.”

One man who casted doubt over Miller’s withdrawal was former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, who claimed that he knows the real reason why the fight against Wardley is no longer happening.
