After sharing ten rounds with Daniel Dubois, Jarrell Miller is well placed to predict how he will fare in his next fight against IBF mandatory challenger, Filip Hrgovic.
‘Big Baby’ Miller promised to make 26-year-old Dubois quit in Riyadh late last year, but the young heavyweight silenced many doubts by weathering the storm against the controversial American and pulling out a stoppage in the dying seconds of the fight.
With a newfound confidence and working well with trainer Don Charles, Dubois now steps up into a fight with Hrgovic, the winner of which will be challenging for a world title in the near future.
Speaking to Boxing News, Miller said it was a 50/50 fight but leans towards the Croatian to beat Dubois.
“It’s a 50/50 fight in my mind, but I think Hrgovic should pull it off better. I just want him to stay focused in the middle and later rounds. Don’t get, how can I say, bored or out of focus in the middle rounds like I did. You kind of see Hrgovic where he’s not in the moment.
But I’m a Hrgovic fan and I think he can definitely pull it off. Between talent and skill-wise, I think it’s a 50/50 fight.”
Hrgovic is undefeated in 17 but, at 31, has not been stepped up as much and as often as fans would have liked. He feels that he is levels above Dubois after claiming to have sent him to hospital in sparring and even promising to retire should he lose.
They face off on June 1 as part of the Matchroom vs Queensberry 5 vs 5 concept.
