Jermaine Franklin Delivers Verdict On Wilder vs Chisora: “It Depends On This”

Deontay Wilder versus Derek Chisora is less than a month away, and heavyweight contender Jermaine Franklin has weighed in.

At this stage in their careers, both men have had 49 contests so far, and both are now in their forties – this is a clash between two veterans of the sport with the future at stake.

Chisora has never been a world champion but is always in entertaining fights that live up to his ‘War’ mantra. He has enjoyed recent wins over Otto Wallin and Joe Joyce.

Wilder ruled for years as the WBC champion until he was twice stopped by Tyson Fury, and since then, he has also been knocked out by Zhilei Zhang and beaten on points by Joseph Parker.

Last time out back in June, he got a straightforward KO win over Tyrell Herndon, but many think he has grown afraid to let his famously powerful right hand go in fear of what is coming back at him.

Speaking to Seconds Out, Franklin broke down how he sees the fight going.

“I’m 50-50, both warriors, I think in that fight it really just depends who gets the biggest punches off in that fight to see which way it’s gonna turn. They both can hit, they both like to fight, in my opinion, it’s who lands the most consistent punches in that fight.”

Franklin is also out next month when he takes on young British heavyweight hopeful Moses Itauma in their delayed fight from January.
