The much-anticipated showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is fast approaching and now Joe Calzaghe has offered his opinion on a winner.

This fight sees two generational rivals battle it out after many years of back and forth. The build-up has already been heated with Eubank smashing an egg into Benn’s face in reference to a possible reason touted for failing two drugs tests leading to the cancellation of their first scheduled date.

Following that ill-fated bout, Eubank faced Liam Smith and was knocked down and out for the first time in his career, with many people believing the huge amount of weight he lost to make the Benn fight happen played a part.

The Brighton man got revenge in the rematch – albeit against an out-of-sorts Smith – and has clocked up another KO win since then back in October. Now, we are just four weeks away from the rescheduled bout with Benn, who is coming up two weight classes from his natural 147 to fight at 160.

Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, former super middleweight champion of the world Calzaghe

“Yeah I think it’s a tough one to call. Talent-wise I think they’re on the same sort of level but size normally size wins fights so I sort of edge with Eubank as he’s the bigger guy naturally.”

Eubank is slightly restricted by a clause which states he must not weigh more than 10lbs over the limit on the morning of the fight, though he can continue to add weight after that deadline.
