Joe Joyce is in the final part of his career, but could still be involved in some big fights before he finally retires.
Known as ‘The Juggernaut’ for the way he relentlessly comes forward and is hard to stop, Joyce is a former Olympic silver medalist who has some big wins under his belt at the heavyweight level.
He first broke out by stopping Daniel Dubois who was at the time a much hyped rising star, and also beat Carlos Takam, Christian Hammer and Joseph Parker before losing by KO twice in consecutive fights to Zhilei Zhang.
The Brit has also lost to Derek Chisora and Filip Hrgovic last time out in April 2025, so he has to pick his next opponent wisely.
Speaking to Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions, Tony Yoka said he was keen on sharing the ring with Joyce.
“I’m looking for everybody. Whoever is looking for that smoke can get it. I’ve been calling out names those last months. I think one fight that makes sense is Joe Joyce, this fight makes sense and we’ve been trying to organise it for the last few months.”
Frenchman Yoka is also a former Olympian who beat Joyce in the gold medal match at the Olympic Games in 2016. Most, however, feel that the Brit was robbed of the top prize due to scandalous judging. The bout has since come under suspicion and subject to an enquiry.
He has been banned for failing a doping test back in 2018 and beaten the likes of Dave Allen with his current record at 17 fights, 14 wins. Last time out, he beat the little-known Patrick Korte in Nigeria back in December.
