Joe Joyce became the first man to defeat Daniel Dubois when they faced each other back in November 2020.
The 39-year-old from London captured the British, European and Commonwealth titles with a devastating tenth-round knockout victory over Dubois, adding the first blemish to the record of his British rival.
Since tasting defeat for the first time, ‘Dynamite’ has bounced back to become IBF heavyweight champion, which he defended in style last September with a fifth-round knockout victory against two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.
In an interview with SportsMail, ‘The Juggernaut’ initially needed just two words to describe the power of Dubois.
“Phenomenal power.
“I had to be static for him to hit me. If I’m moving around it’s harder to get the full power going to land a shot, but Parker hit me with some good shots throughout the fight.”
Joyce also holds an impressive victory over Joseph Parker, who he stopped in the eleventh round of their battle back in September 2022 to become the WBO ‘interim’ heavyweight champion.
Following his victory over Parker, the 39-year-old suffered consecutive defeats at the hands of the hard-hitting Zhilei Zhang, who stopped Joyce in the sixth and third rounds of their respective bouts in 2023.
‘The Juggernaut’ has recently announced he will be returning to the ring in 2025, while Joyce’s former opponents Dubois and Parker are set to lock horns in an intriguing showdown on February 22, with the British powerhouse set to make the second defence of his IBF title against an in-form Parker.
