John Fury Weighs In On Tyson vs Anthony Joshua After Previously Saying His Son Was ‘Finished’

John Fury has always been honest about his son Tyson’s career and has now assessed his comeback opponent ahead of a proposed battle with Anthony Joshua.

Fury looked in good shape when he returned in April after a year out of the sport. He beat Arslanbek Makmudov on points and will now have one more tune-up before the much-anticipated all-British showdown with ‘AJ.’ Prior to his fight with the Russian, Tyson’s father, John, said the Deontay Wilder fights ‘finished’ his son.

Before taking on Fury, Joshua also has an interim fight lined up in July against Kristian Prenga, given that he has not fought since a KO of Jake Paul last December.

Speaking to Seconds Out, ‘Big John’ first spoke about Joshua’s comeback opponent.

“Prenga’s got a lot of knockouts on his form. He’s a big heavy lad and Rico Verhoeven has opened the door hasn’t he. Anything can happen. Nothing’s a given in this job, you’ve got to just be the best you can on the night or if not, you get beat. Doesn’t matter who you are. If you’re below par, you’re losing.

He was then asked about his son’s opponent, with some rumours suggesting it could be the Albanian Nelson Hysa in August.

“Tough, dangerous opponent, he can pick em Tyson can’t he. He only picks danger men. But he’s good enough to deal with it isn’t he. People as game as Tyson, with bo**ocks as big as he’s got, he can fight anybody.

“He could fight two of them in the same night, and he’s only going to get better. At the end of the day he’s got the cobwebs off now. Lets just see what he does, but he only wants this fight and he wants to get in with Anthony Joshua because if it goes on too long it won’t happen again because at this age anything can happen.”

Assuming both Fury and Joshua come through with the victories many predict, they are on track to clash in November.
