The Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois rematch takes place next month.
Wembley Stadium in London will play host to the clash on July 19th, where a new undisputed heavyweight champion will be crowned.
Usyk was previously undisputed heavyweight champion after defeating Tyson Fury in May 2024, but vacated the IBF belt in order to honour the rematch against ‘The Gypsy King.’
That title was subsequently picked up by Dubois, who successfully defended it against Anthony Joshua with a fifth round knockout win last September, setting up the meeting with the Ukrainian.
It is the second time that Usyk and Dubois have met, after a showdown back in August 2023, where the Brit was defeated by ninth round stoppage. The fight had its controversy though, after Dubois thought he had dropped the Ukrainian with a body shot in the fifth round, only for it to be ruled as a low blow.
Nearly two years on the pair are ready to meet again, and John Fury has now made it known how he expects the rematch to play out. Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Fury believes that Dubois has what it takes to gain revenge and win the fight.
“That’s mission impossible I think for him [Usyk] at 38, dodgy. I do [think Dubois can win]. He’s young enough, strong enough and he’s got the power, but Usyk is a master technician.
If he gets on that back foot and keeps picking him apart, will Dubois get sick and blow a fuse? But if he doesn’t, Usyk is in for a hard night. But he’s a class act Usyk. There’s levels to this game, and he’s at the top of the tree in my book.”
Former world champion Amir Khan has also offered his take for the upcoming rematch, believing that it could be an ‘easy night’ for one man.
