John Fury Confirms He Will Fight Carl Froch Under One Condition

John Fury has continued his back-and-forth with Carl Froch.

The father of former unified heavyweight champion Tyson and former boxer has been exchanging verbal jabs with Froch for several years.

Earlier this year it almost bubbled over into a physical confrontation at the launch press conference for his son’s comeback fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov.

John implored Froch to meet him in the ring and ‘The Cobra’ accepted the offer. Although Misfits Boxing said they would host the contest, Fury walked away arguing that the money wasn’t right.

Now, speaking to Fight Your Corner, ‘Big John’ confirmed the amount it will take for him to step into the ring.

“All I want to say to Carl, he’s messing with a game old boy. Get me a £2.5 million quid contract, I’ll sign on the dotted line, and let’s get it on. We don’t need it a long time away cause at 61 I ain’t got that long. But let me tell you something, I’m game.

“You think I’m going to embarrass myself by not fighting? It’s on like Donkey Kong. I’m gonna fight, cause at the end of the day that’s what I do. What I want to do, really, is make history.

“I’ll be the first 61-year-old man in history to take on a three time Hall of Famer in Carl Froch. I can’t wait. Get me that contract and I will be there, anywhere in the world, I mean that, I’ve got nothing else.”

Froch, who has recently laid into John’s son Tommy following his fight with Eddie Hall, has already said that if Fury signs the contract, he is more than ready to take the fight, though whether or not anyone puts up that much cash is another matter.
